Jack Newton Gallery
On November 18, 2003, Jack Newton used a Meade pictor 1616XTE CCD imaging camera to obtain this incredible image of the Sun. During this time the sun was very active, on the bottom left of the image there is a solar prominence that is said to be approximately 100,000 miles high. This image was taken at two one hundreths of a second from the Arizona Sky Village.

Important Note: Observing or imaging the Sun carries inherent and potentially serious risks to the eye (including the risk of permanent eye damage), as well as risks to the telescope itself. Solar observing should be undertaken only by those who have received detailed instruction from professionals in the field as to the nature of these risks and as to proper and safe solar observing procedure.
