12.4mm Meade Series 4000 Super Plossl 1.25" Eyepiece

The Meade Series 4000 12.4mm Super Plössl eyepiece offers precision engineered Meade optics, with a wide field, sharp image, and a very satisfying view at a terrific cost.

Utilizing multi-coated optics and a 4-element design, the Series 4000 represents an excellent general-purpose eyepiece. Blackened lens edges minimize internal light bounce and glare, producing excellent contrast. The 4-element lens system, with an eye relief of 7.2mm, is simple yet effective in providing high light transmission and a sharp image, ensuring crisp, bright images across the field of view at a very affordable cost. 12.4mm is considered medium-high magnification, but of course it can vary depending on the focal length of the telescope being used with this eyepiece. As a benchmark, in a 1000mm focal length telescope, the magnification will be 81x, with a field of view of 0.6°. And in a shorter telescope such as an 80mm f/6 refractor (480mm focal length), the magnification is 39x with a wide 1.3° field of view. 12.4mm is an excellent medium-high magnification focal length eyepiece to have in your collection. Ideal for compact sized deep-sky objects in most all telescopes, and for higher resolution lunar and planetary viewing in longer focal length telescopes.

This Series 4000 eyepiece features a precision made standard 1.25" barrel and fold-down rubber eyeguard for comfortable viewing as well as for helping to block stray light. It is parfocal with other Series 4000 Super Plössls meaning there will be little to no focus change when switching between eyepieces. The barrel is threaded for 1.25" eyepiece filters, and the eyepiece weighs just 2.1 oz (59g), with dimensions of 34mm x 45mm.
